Supporting your child with Reading
Reading is a vital life skill that underpins learning across the whole curriculum. As children grow, their ability to read confidently enables them to discover new facts, develop their imagination and access a wide world of stories, ideas and opportunities, both in and out of school.
At school, we place a strong emphasis on developing fluent, confident readers who enjoy reading and understand what they read. Children are taught a range of reading skills, including decoding, fluency, comprehension and vocabulary development, and are encouraged to read regularly for pleasure.

The documents below have been created to help you support your child with reading at home. They include practical guidance, suggestions and strategies to use with children at different stages of their reading journey.
If you have any questions about reading or would like further advice on how to support your child, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher.
